RESEARCH conducted by Nature’s Way Cooperative Ltd in Nadi in partnership with the Australian Centre for International Agriculture funded Fiji Papaya Project has resulted in the development of treatment measures that are assisting farmers boost exports.
Nature’s Way CEO Michael Brown said on average, papaya exporters lost about 10 per cent of potential income to post-harvest rot.
“This can be even greater in the very wet years or in times of natural disasters as we have experienced during the two floods and Tropical Cyclone Evan in 2012,” he said.
